WORK & MOVE Project GRBV

GRBV is one of the oldest freelance engineering companies in Germany, with more than 95 years of experience in structural, industrial, civil and hydraulic engineering. From four locations in Hanover, Berlin, Münster and Braunschweig, more than 180 highly qualified employees manage challenging projects throughout Germany. They spend most of the working day behind a PC. BakkerElkhuizen’s WORK & MOVE Coach helps employees to take regular exercise and breaks in their daily work.

How did GRBV come across the WORK & MOVE Coach?

Among other things, Vera Brinck, who is responsible for occupational safety in the company, initiated the introduction of the WORK & MOVE Coach software and supported its integration into business processes and IT.

She says the following about the project and the WORK & MOVE Coach itself: “Through the company Rückenwind – Ergonomische Lösungen from Hanover. This company had previously supported us in the ergonomic design of our workstations, including electrically height-adjustable desks. During this process, we soon found out that optimizing the workstations was not enough. Through discussions with employees, it became clear that a rethink of their own work behavior was needed. Additional impetus was needed to ensure that the height-adjustable desks were used and that short breaks were taken regularly. Heiko Jeretzky of Rückenwind drew our attention to the WORK & MOVE Coach software and put us in contact with BakkerElkhuizen.”

How did BakkerElkhuizen support you during the launch?

“After exchanging information about the software, we first had a meeting with our IT manager to discuss functionality and technical implementation. It quickly became clear that the program could be integrated without any problems. We then decided to conduct a company-wide “pilot test” of about 60 days to gauge employee acceptance and test the effectiveness of the solution. Stefan Reuter of BakkerElkhuizen supported us in this. Employee questionnaires before and after the pilot phase were harmonized and sent digitally. The software in general and how the program works were presented to our employees in a webinar. The webinar was recorded so that those who were not there “live” could also learn more afterwards.

BakkerElkhuizen supported us well in analyzing and presenting the research results. The results showed that it would be important to hold another webinar for the long-term use of the software. All employees were given a detailed presentation and explanation of the wide range of in-depth customisation options. This allowed us to re-emphasise how the software can support everyone individually. This webinar was also recorded and is available to all employees in our internal wiki.

A majority of our employees had voted in favor of adopting the software in the surveys, so management decided to use WORK & MOVE Coach for three years.”

How is WORK & MOVE Coach integrated into GRBV's vitality program?

“The well-being and health of the entire team is very important to us at GRBV. In addition to our employee value-added program, which includes health benefits, we hold a health day every two years and offer “team training” twice a week, among other things. The offerings are very well received in the company. WORK & MOVE Coach also helps employees integrate regular exercise and breaks into their screen work. All active and new employees are therefore given the opportunity to use WORK & MOVE Coach.”
